A few little words
Would you believe that you could be convicted of murder and sent to prison for the rest of your life just because someone claimed you said a few words? That’s reality in the world of criminal justice.
Today, I’m pulling apart statements and testimony from a decades old murder case. I’m using those materials in a motion to prove to a judge why my client wasn’t a major participant in a felony who acted with reckless disregard for human life.
The government claims that my client is a violent killer deserving of a lifetime behind bars. In reality, my client was a scared teenaged boy who – at the behest of a trusted family member – happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
And it will all boil down to whether my client said a few little words.
